Jim Sweatman

Founder, Great Explorers Guide Service

A Life Dedicated to Fishing and Faith
Jim’s life story is a testament to the power of a calling.  A childhood fishing trip at the age of 8 ignited a passion that would guide him for over 3 decades, both on the water and in his career.  With a deep faith in Jesus Christ, Jim believes God set him on this path and used fishing as a tool for ministry.

From Guiding to Sharing Knowledge

Jim’s impressive 30+ year career as a Fisheries Biologist with the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission allowed him to participate in crucial fisheries management projects.  He also leveraged his expertise to guide anglers, including veterans, first responders, and even professional bass fisherman, like Gary Klein.

Sharing the Legacy
After retiring from the FWC, Jim continues to share his knowledge and passion for fishing through his fish guide service.  A firm believer in the Buck Perry method, he uses it to empower others to achieve success on the water.  His boat, aptly named “Legacy of God’s Goodness,” reflects his faith and lifelong dedication to Jesus and the sport of fishing.
